CLINICAL EVALUATION OF ADMISSIONS TO A PSYCHIATIC DAY HOSPITAL



Abstract
Day Hospital started by Dzagrorov in Moscow in 1932 and Cameron in American, Bierer in England and Lambo in Affrica described and introduced to western literature.
A Day Hospital may be defined as one where full hospital treatment is given under medical Supervision to patient who return to their home each night.
It is well known that Day Hospital offers an alternative to inpatient admission to those for whom outpatient treatment is inadequate. Yoido St. Mary¢¥s Day Hospital started in 1. November 1975, and primary tark is to facilitate the recentry into the community of previously hospitalized patients.
The authers has treated 50 day hospitalized patients from Nov. 1975 to Aug. 1976 at Yoido St. Mary¢¥s Psychiatric Day Hospital and were studied of clinical features.
The results were follows:
1) Among 50 cases,33 cases was transfered from inpatient to Day Hospital care and 17 cases was directly admitted via O.P.D. and among 17 cases, only 4 cases were no previously psychiatric admission.
2) By diagnostic classification, 38 cases of schizophrenia, 6 cases of depressive illness, 2 cases of mania, 2 cases of addiction and 2 cases of other were founded.
3) Inpatient group is more active and well co-operation than out-patient group in the ward life and inpatient group is more effective in therapeutic aspect.
